Research Interests

My research interests are primarily in analytic number theory, discrete analogues in harmonic analysis, and post-quantum cryptography.

I also dabble in order theory and the theory of closure operations, and have a passing interest in dimension theory.

Non-Academics

Crafting

Outside of academia, I enjoy crafting. I have historically made jewelry on the side, and nowadays I enjoy bookbinding and knitting. I dabble in paper marbling and sketching, and you will find pictures of my work scattered throughout this website.

Reading

Like any good academic, I have a healthy appreciation for reading as well. For fantasy, I am an avid enjoyer of Brandon Sanderson’s works (as a Utah native, I am biased towards his works), but my favorite author is actually Ursula K. Le Guin, as her Earthsea books have long been my favorite stories written. The Witcher short stories by Andrej Sapkowski are favorites of mine (I prefer the short stories to the longer form content he writes), and all of the Science Fiction works by H. Beam Piper are favorites of mine.

Video Games

I am also a fan of video games. During my undergraduate, I was a team captain in the university’s Esports association, and eventually became the vice-president of the organization, taking the lead on all competitive matters. I actively played Starcraft II (although I wasn’t very good), and continue to enjoy real-time strategy games to this day. These days, my play is more casual and less competitive (indeed, those who play games with me will quickly find out I knit while playing).
